Trump’s 30-day tariff threat

Posted on February 20, 2025 by Sunny South News

For the past two weeks all President Trump ever talked about is punishing Canada, Mexico and China over the 25 per cent tariffs. I am sure many people have prayed that this will never happen over 30 days. Lydia and I pray to God daily that Trump will change his mind, and not impose the tariff that he is threatening to do.

The Bible says: “Love your neighbour.” Who is my neighbour? Is it someone next door or isn’t Trump our neighbour? We hear this regularly in our preacher’s sermons “love your neighbour as we love ourselves”.

Perhaps Trump is kidding about adding 25 per cent tariffs to our free trade agreement and merely testing Prime Minister Trudeau. Anyone who runs to Florida before Trump becomes president and when Trump is sworn in is a weakling, including Danielle Smith, who probably thought that pandering to Trump will spare her of the tariff. On the other hand, Trump may be serious about annexing Canada as the 51st State of the U.S.A. He is not interested in the welfare of Canadians but has been eyeing our abundant resources including minerals and other products that the U.S. cannot produce enough on their own to support their citizens because they have 10 times more the population compared to Canada and need free trade with the world.

I believe that Trump is a schoolboy bully. He lacks tact and honesty in his dealings with other countries, and his new advisors are the ones who control the U.S. government. I believe that since fentanyl is imported mostly from China Trump should apply 50 per cent tariffs on them and drop the tariffs to Canada and Mexico.

Before any U.S. President takes office, they should be tested by a psychiatrist to determine if they are fit to run the country and to make sure their mind is not off balance. So, March 1, 2025, the President of the U.S.A. will likely drop all the tariffs because the 49th parallel will be protected and Canada and Mexico’s free trade will resume without any added tariffs.

We should be prepared to protect our free trade with the U.S., since Trump is unpredictable, and have our Prime Minister continue to look to the E.U. and other Asian countries for their support. Furthermore, the Trump administration should contact King Charles III of England before invading Canada because we are part of the UK.
