Jamboree Days in ‘Butte

Jamboree Days/Harvest Days is coming soon to the Town of Picture Butte and area Aug. 14-16. The annual event is organized by the Picture Butte and District Agricultural Society.
This year’s theme is, “A Salute to the Picture Butte Fish and Game Club and Picture Butte Archery Club.”
One of the highlights of the weekend is the Community Slow Pitch Tournament being held all weekend.
Friday
Knights of Columbus Family Street Dance downtown Picture Butte Friday from 7:30-9:45 p.m. Fireworks after the dance, sponsored by the Town of Picture Butte and suppported by the chamber of commerce and the Ag Society from Harry Watson Memorial Park.
Saturday
Lions Pancake Breakfast at the North County Sportsplex from 7-10 a.m. Support the local food bank.
Parade: Line-up starts at 9 a.m. at Dorothy Dagliesh School south grounds with judging at 10 a.m. and the parade begins at 11 a.m.
Bench Fair and Art Club Display at St. Catherine’s School. Exhibits open to the public from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Prizes awarded from 3-4 p.m.
Family Fun Day at Lions Park from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Free food and fun for kids, hosted by Cornerstone Church.
Fish and Game 3D Indoor Archery Tournament at 1 p.m. at the Picture Butte Fish and Game Building.
Competition categories include adult, youth and youth 12 and under (must be accompanied by an adult). Contestants must provide their own equipment.
John Trechka, from the archery club said, turn-outs for the event can be anywhere between 15-70 participants. Participants just need to show up for the event, as there is no pre-registration required.
“Doors open at noon and then we’re just going to horse around for a little bit and then at about 1 p.m. we’re going to get started,” said Trechka.
Trechka noted there will be cash prizes handed out to winners of the competition and there will be a $20 fee for adults and a $10 fee for youth to enter.
Fire Department Slip and Slide from 1-4 p.m. at Elks Hall Coulee Hill.
From 1-5 p.m. Jamboree Days Swim at the Lions Aquatic Centre. Fun and games and prizes. No admission fee for those who bring a non-perishable food item for the local food bank.
Movie in the Park at Lions Park at 9 p.m. (Free and their will be concession items for sale).
Harvest Days at Coyote Flats Pioneer Village at the Prairie Tractor and Engine Museum
Friday
Tractor Pull at 6 p.m.
Saturday
Activities include sheep shearing, the Parade of Power, binding, threshing, a tractor pull and train rides.
Sunday
Morning breakfast from 8-10 a.m.
Afternoon activities include Parade of Power, binding, threshing and a heavy horse pull.
