Vulcan man charged with murder of Lethbridge woman after body found near Oyen

A 61-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder after a body was found near Oyen on Sept. 17.

At approximately 11:14 a.m. Sept. 17, Oyen RCMP were dispatched to a location where clothing and other personal effects were located in a tree line along a rural road.

They deemed the matter suspicious and the Alberta RCMP major crimes unit was called to the area to take over the investigation. After a further search of the area, an adult victim was found deceased and has been identified as a 28-year-old female resident of Lethbridge.

RCMP have arrested and charged 61-year-old Garry Dean Brown, a resident of Vulcan County, with second-degree murder.

Brown was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody and appeared for a court date Sept. 25 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Hanna.
