Nomination period open for 2025 municipal election

Lethbridge County residents interested in running for Council in the 2025 municipal election can now submit their nomination papers. The nomination period officially opened January 1 and will close at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025.

The upcoming municipal election, scheduled for Monday, October 20, 2025, will determine who will represent the County’s seven divisions on Council for the next four years. Each division is represented by one Councillor, with the Reeve and Deputy Reeve elected annually by Council.

Serving on Council is an opportunity to represent the interests of your community and guide the future of Lethbridge County. Councillors are responsible for:

• Collaborating with fellow Councillors to set policies and provide strategic direction for the County

• Communicating with residents and stakeholders on matters that impact the community

• Attending regular Council meetings twice per month, as well as additional special or committee meetings

• Representing Lethbridge County at public events, conferences and community gatherings

Those intending to run must submit completed nomination papers by 12:00 p.m. on September 22, 2025. Nomination packages, which include full details on running for Council and all required forms, are available online or at the Lethbridge County Administration Office (100, 905 – 4 Avenue South).

Completed Nomination Papers must be submitted in person at the County’s Lethbridge Office. Candidates may have someone drop them off on their behalf. As Nomination Papers can only be accepted by authorized staff, it is recommended to call the office at 403.328.5525 before submitting papers to ensure someone will be available to accept them.
