Lethbridge County makes upgrades to truckfill station payment system

Users of Lethbridge County’s bulk water stations (truckfills) now have more convenient ways to pay. All stations have been upgraded to a new payment system to accept debit, credit card and mobile wallet payments onsite, or prepayment through a fob linked to an online account.

The previous system at the county’s bulk water stations was outdated, requiring substantial time and resources for maintenance. Switching to a more modern platform can offer an improved customer experience, provide enhanced payment options and eliminate the need for mailed invoices.

Users can now prepay by tapping a credit or debit card, or a mobile device (for Apple, Google and Samsung Pay) at any bulk water station before filling up. Receipts are not available with this option.

Those wishing to track detailed usage can instead create and add funds to an online account, then obtain a new fob at the Lethbridge County office (located at Unit 100, 905 4 Avenue S). Prepayment for fobs can also be made in-person at the office. An emailed receipt showing volume and remaining balance will be sent after each fob transaction. Automated low-balance alerts will also be provided with a link to top up the account.

To give users time to transition, old fobs will continue to work until June 1. Customers may exchange old fobs for new ones at no cost at the county office. After June 1, old fobs will be decommissioned and will no longer function but can still be swapped for new ones. Additional fobs are available for purchase, though each online account can only have one fob assigned.

This upgrade was identified to streamline operations, reduce administrative overhead and bring greater convenience to truckfill users.
