Town of Coaldale
All seven members of Coaldale town council are proud to collectively announce that they will be seeking re-election in the upcoming 2025 general municipal election, scheduled for Monday, October 20th.
Throughout this past term, Coaldale’s council has worked diligently as a unified and forward-thinking team, dedicated to strengthening the town’s economic future, enhancing quality of life and ensuring that community voices are respected, represented and heard. By cultivating a strong spirit of collaboration amongst themselves, and with the town’s senior administration, council has been able to advance key priorities while maintaining a steady and fiscally responsible approach to growth.
“We’ve accomplished a great deal together because we’ve stayed united in our purpose and vision, building a thriving, inclusive, and sustainable Coaldale,” said Mayor Jack Van Rijn. “Our collaborative work with administration has allowed us to make meaningful progress in areas such as infrastructure, residential development, public amenities, and long-term planning, while staying committed to environmental stewardship and resilience.
Council also highlighted its commitment to responsible fiscal management noting that in the most recent 2025 to 2027 operating budget, Coaldale was proud to approve one of the lowest residential and non-residential tax increases in the region. This was accomplished despite mounting inflationary pressures and changes to provincial policies that significantly impacted municipal revenues.
“Our residents deserve strong reliable services without facing excessive tax burdens,” added Van Rijn. “By taking a measured, disciplined approach to budgeting, we’ve continued to invest in critical infrastructure and services while keeping property taxes among the most competitive in Alberta.”
As seven individuals who share a passion for Coaldale, they collectively realize that the successes of this term stem from a team-first mindset grounded in open communication, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to excellence. Just as importantly, Coaldale’s elected officials credit their community-minded approach, marked by a deep commitment to transparency and listening to residents, as a foundational pillar of their leadership philosophy.
“Over the past four years, we’ve demonstrated what’s possible when elected officials and municipal staff work side by side with a common vision,” said Van Rijn. “We’re proud of what we’ve achieved and even more excited about what we can continue to do together in the years ahead.”
All members of Coaldale Town Council will be seeking re-election:
