The 2022 soccer season is shaping up to be a good one for the Coaldale Soccer Association.
While the previous two seasons were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization is preparing to hit the pitch as they had in previous seasons. With the season on the horizon, the group is reporting fairly good numbers in regard to registration for the new season.
“For Coaldale soccer, the lower age groups are good and the upper age groups are definitely lacking,” explained Nic Voorhorst, president of Coaldale Soccer Association.
Come next week, weather permitting, the season will be kicked off for Coaldale soccer players. And the best news of all is the fact no restrictions are in place so the season will be back to normal.
“Everything is back to normal, no restrictions or nothing like that. We’ll be starting here on the week of the 25th,” added Voorhorst.
One thing the group is still looking for is U11 coaches. As the season draws nearer, the association is hopeful to fill the last few remaining volunteer positions.
“Without volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to do this, so definitely appreciative of the volunteers. Had to do some extra digging to find some extra parents with coaching, but without that, nothing would run,” continued Voorhorst. “We’ve been using social media to request volunteers and in the future, we’ll have that as part of registration to request for volunteers for certain aspects. We’re pretty much all set, but we are short U11 coaches, but other than that we are pretty good.”
