The following are selected briefs from the September Administration Report to Coalhurst town Council.
• Sarah Bittner joined the town as it’s Director of Corporate Services on Sept 3. CAO Karlene Betteridge welcomed Bittner to the team. Bittner has about 22 years of experience with three municipalities, and said she looked forward to working with the town, especially on upcoming projects like the strategic plan and 2025 budget.
• The town apologizes for an error regarding utility bills, where residents who received them by email received their July bill instead of their August bill. The correct bill was to be sent out last week.
• The town’s Community Center parking lot lighting will be completed by Fortis Alberta, who are working with the town’s engineers on the design and construct for both parking lots. No timeline has been set yet for construction dates.
• The grass remediation in Imperial Meadows Park has been completed, although the fencing will remain up until the grass has established itself.
• The public hearing for the Green Tree Area Structure Plan bylaw is set to go on Sept. 17. Residents can visit the town’s website or call the town’s office to learn more about it.
• Municipal Enforcement reported a total of 44 files in August and contained the following breakdown: 22 traffic enforcement (including speed violations, poor parking, and abandon vehicles), 15 warning issued, 11 animal control, seven unsightly property notices, five tickets issues, and three other files.
• With the start of the school year, Municipal Enforcement will be cracking down on poor parking behaviour, cross walk safety, and bus safety as they patrol school zones.
