What’s different about the Iron Springs Parade and Barbecue in comparison to other Lethbridge County parades and festivities?
For one, it’s held at night and takes place in September, rather than in the summer.
This Saturday, the festivities begin in downtown Iron Springs at 4 p.m. with a bouncy house.
Between 4-5:30 p.m. there will be the fan favourite of riding lawnmower races (please register by Sept. 11 by calling 403-738-4166).
Iron Spring’s parade kicks off at 6 p.m. and parade participants can meet at the CPS yard (formerly Viterra) at 5:30 p.m.
John Heersink, an Iron Springs parade committee member, noted there is no need to register. “Just show up,” he stated in a recent media release.
A barbecue supper with burgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, coffee, tea, soda, water and more will be held at 7 p.m. and the cost is by donation.
Between 8-9 p.m. there will be a judging of pie baking contest entries and the pies must be homemade. For more information about the pie baking contest call 403-634-9701 and register by Sept. 11.
Fireworks will wrap up the day of fun in Iron Springs at 9:15 p.m.
Heersink stated in the media release this year will mark the fourth annual event.
