Coaldale Cobra Novice 1 team had a great weekend. They started their weekend on home ice with a game against Hanna Novice Colts on Saturday with a final score of 11-1. A hat trick went out to #6 Eric Price. Other goals went to #3 Kobe Urasaki (2), #2 Fynn Roersma, #11 Jager Gugyelka (2), #10 Barrett Van Nistelrooy and #4 Jarret McNeill.
The team ended the weekend travelling to Redcliff to take on the Redcliff Grizzlies. Coaldale Cobras won the game 9-4. The Cobras worked really hard in this game with great goaltending from #1 Brylin Noble.
A hat trick went to #6 Eric Price. Other goals went to #11 Jager Gugyelka, #2 Fynn Roersma, #9 Landon Sokoloski and #13 Layne Kyle.
The Picture Butte Peewee Blades are back into full-swing with four games under their belt already. The first game, two weekends ago, was a blow out against the Vauxhall Sabers (17-5). The Blades continued their winning streak winning all three of their games. The team played another exhibition game against the Coaldale Cobras Peewee 2.
The Blades were off to a great start with three goals in the first period scored by Caden Heins, Ryan Holm and Nicolas Rudelich. The second continued to be difficult for the Cobras because the Blades scored another three goals (Riley McCloud, Holm and Hillaby. Finally, in the last two minutes of the second Coldale’s Haelen Opp put the team on the score sheet with an unassisted goal. There was no scoring from either team in the third.
Picture Butte’s last exhibition game of the weekend was against the Lethbridge Peewee Monsters. Lethbridge was outmatched losing 14-4.
The Blades hosted the Magrath Chiefs this past Sunday.
After the first period, the Chiefs were ahead 3-1. Kaysan Mohamed got his second goal of the season followed by Riley McCloud. The Blades lit it up in the third scoring five goals. Caden Heins put in four and McCloud added another. The Chiefs came out strong in the third, adding four more goals of their own.
Butte worked hard and held it together adding two more goals. Logan Hillaby put one in. Kaysan Mohamed got the GWG on a great rebound from Ryan Holm.

The Picture Butte Midget Blades began the season with two exhibition games.
The first game they hosted Lomond, which ended in a 2-1 win.
The Blades began the scoring in the first period with a power play goal from Jesse Shoemaker.
Lomond responded with their own power play goal in the second period before the Blades’ Jackson Liska fired a sniper, which turned out to be the winning goal.
Nash Ober faced 44 shots and was outstanding in the win.
In the second exhibition game, the Blades hosted Lethbridge Team White, as they managed a 3-2 win.
Lethbridge opened the scoring in the first period but the Blades replied with goals from C.J. Currie and Landon Veluw before the end of the period.
Lethbridge had the only second-period goal before Jared McCloud posted the winning goal in the third. Ober faced 31 shots for the win.
Regular season tiering games began this past weekend, as the Blades hosted Bow Island/Foremost and lost 6-4.
The Blades dominated the first period, as all four of the goals were scored — McCloud, Currie, Zack Liska and Veluw all scored for the Blades.
With the Blades taking way too many penalties, the team allowed the Flyers to come back and take the win.
Ober faced 35 shots in the loss.
On Sunday, the Blades faced the Lethbridge Team Red at the Enmax Centre, as they allowed Lethbridge to take a four-goal lead halfway through the game before they turned it on. With less than five minutes left in the second, Jackson Liska fired a shot that found the back of the net to put the Blades on the board. The third period was all Blades — as Liska, Noah Braun and Landon Veluw all scored to tie the game at four.
Both Reed Graham and Nash Ober shared the goaltending duties.
The Picture Butte Atom Blades travelled to Coaldale on Friday night of the long weekend for their first exhibition game of the season. The Blades opened their season with a huge 11-3 win over the Coaldale Atom B Cobras.
Connor O’Donnell started his season off with a bang — scoring four goals for the Blades, while Kyler Stroeve added another three goals and three assists.
Riley Hillaby, Rhett Serfas, Kourtney Serfas and Leland Gellrich each added another goal.
The Sunday morning, the Blades hosted the Lethbridge Tier 4 team at home.
The outcome wasn’t quite as favourable for the Blades, who fell 12-4 to Lethbridge.
Riley Hillaby had a great game, scoring three goals, while Addisyn Currie scored the final goal.
The Picture Butte Novice Blades started off the year at home in an exhibition game against the Lethbridge Flyers.
The Blades played a hard game but ended up falling to the Flyers 8-4.
Leeland Fraser and Braxton Hanna each racked up a goal, while Luka Rudelich and Carson Konynenbelt scored a goal each.
It was a great opening game for the Blades and everyone is looking forward to an exciting season of Novice hockey.
Hockey is back in full swing at the North County Rec Complex in Picture Butte.
Saturday morning the Picture Butte Atom Blades hosted the Raymond A Atom team in their first seeding game of the season.
The Blades skated away with a big 8-6 win over Raymond.
Cam Hillaby scored four goals for the Blades and Riley Hillaby added two more goals. Karsen Haney and Kyler Stroeve each scored one goal.
Sunday afternoon, the Blades’ families made the scenic drive to Foremost to meet up against the Foremost Flyers.
Foremost always provides for exciting hockey games and Sunday was no different.
The game was scoreless after the first period, with tons of action in both ends. The second period ended tied 3-3 with Riley Hillaby, Karsen Haney and Matt Reiter each scoring a goal.
The third period was a nailbiter with the Flyers scoring early in the period.
But, the Blades pulled it together and Riley Hillaby scored another halfway through the period.
The game ended in a 4-4 tie.
The Atom Blades are back on the ice on Friday night at home hosting a team from Lethbridge.
The Picture Butte Novice Blades travelled to Taber on Saturday afternoon. The Blades played hard but fell 18-12 to the Taber Oil Kings.
There was a bit of a discrepancy in the scorekeeping, but Braxton Hanna and Leeland Fraser each scored multiple goals while Carson Konynenbelt, Grady McLeod and Riley Van Zeggellar each scored one goal.
Sunday morning, the Blades hosted the Bow Island Rebels and skated away with a huge 16-3 win.
Leeland Fraser scored four goals, Carson Konynenbelt scored three goals, Braxton Hanna scored two goals, Luka Rudelich scored two goals, Grady McLeod scored two goals, Kaden Groenenboom scored one goal, Asher Sicennes scored one goal and Tanner Quinn added another.
The Novice Blades have the upcoming weekend off, but they are back on the ice on Halloween morning hosting Vauxhall at 9:30 a.m.
