There were close to 100 volunteers who lent a hand to help make the national week-long event a success.
One of the many volunteers helping during the week was Don Randall from Lethbridge, who volunteered everyday from 12-2 p.m. selling 50/50 draw tickets.
“I’m a member of the seniors curling in Coaldale, so I just thought I’d help out like the other senior curlers are doing. It’s a lot of fun,” said Randall, adding it was absolutely excellent the event was held in southern Alberta, especially in Coaldale.
“It is good for the area.”
“When you get national coverage it’s great when you see it. Just about every province is represented. It’s great,” said Randall.
“It’s enjoyable. It’s sociable — you get to meet people. I just enjoy it,” added Randall. “When you’re retired it gives you something to do and keeps you busy,” he said.
Muriel Stanvick, also a volunteer from Lethbridge, volunteered in the Coaldale Granite Club’s lounge.
Stanvick said she volunteers to give back to the community and for the social aspect associated with volunteering.
According to Stanvick, the experience of being a volunteer for the Masters in Coaldale was really good.
“I think it’s very good for the area and I was really pleased to see that they involved the whole area,” she said.
“That’s great.”
