The Coaldale Copperheads winning streak came to a screeching halt Saturday after a six game victories.
The Okotoks Bisons, whom the Copperheads are battling for first in the south division of the HJHL, beat the Snakes on home ice 4-1.
The first period was fairly even as the score related 0-0 and shots 15-13 for the Copperheads. The Bisons struck first after which Levi Anderson, with a great individual effort on the penalty kill scored a the short handed goal to even things up 1-1 to end the second period.
The Bisons had a strong third period, eventually out shooting and scoring three goals to take the win. The Copperheads have three games left, two on the road in Strathmore and High River.
Last home game is set for Saturday, Feb. 10, at 8:30 p.m, versus the Strathmore Wheatland Kings.
With a race for 1st in the South division, it is imperative that the Snakes win all three remaining games in order to obtain the first position from the Bisons for playoff berth.
Saturday’s game will be the teams annual fan appreciation night with some free give-aways. It will be the last remaining home game which season tickets will be valid.
Come playoffs it will be just cash acceptance at the admission booth; prices set at $10 for adults and $5 for youth.
