Copperheads split games over weekend

Coaldale Copperheads

Saturday night at the Snake Pit the Copperheads took the home game handily against the Ponoka Stampeders 7-1.

Stampeders who had only lost one game prior in regular season opened the game scoring.

They took at total of 29 shots but could not get another one past the Snakes goaltender Ethan Barrows. Isaac Benoit with a three point night lead the way with a goal and two assists. Singles goals came from Dallas Bodnar, Ethan Klemen & Kaden Booth. One goal and assist was awarded to Mason Sande, Jayden Bexte and Tyler Strath.

Copperheads travelled to Strathmore Sunday afternoon.

They suffered a 4-1 loss as couldn’t connect a goal until the final thirty three seconds in regulation time from Sande. Broc Merkl played the sixty minutes facing thirty-three shots.

Next weekend, the Snakes will visit Lomond at the Claresholm arena Friday night.

Stettler Lightning will visit the Snakes Saturday night at 8:30 p.m.

Saturday night is the annual Cancer Bake Sale Fundraiser event in the lobby. Baked goods can be dropped off anytime from 5-8 pm. Sale will start during warm ups at 8 p.m. along with the new beverage liquor sales. All proceeds of the bake sale will go directly to the local LRH Jack Ady Cancer Centre. Traditional Copperheads fun community event; everyone welcome!
