Alan Graham, centenarian, will be remarkably 100 years old on Sept. 3, 2020. We met him and Nancy Rose thirty-seven years ago in Coaldale, when we were searching for a house through Century 21 Real Estate agency. Lydia and I also met him at the United Church Thrift Store before the pandemic. I would join Alan and the coffee group to discuss things in general. He told me that a one room school with a bell tower was purchased from the Consolidated School District in 1910-15 and sold to the United Church that still stands there.
Alan Graham reigned as the longest Mayor of Coaldale: 1953-57; 1962-67; and from 1998-2001. His father, John, became Mayor of Coaldale in 1942-51 and established Graham’s Garage from 1952-67. Alan was also chosen as Parade Marshall numerous times in years.
We are pleased to see that Alan Graham’s 100th Birthday milestone will give him a chance to reminisce all he has done for the Town of Coaldale and give him a reason to celebrate.
I could relate to Alan’s milestone, when my mother celebrated her 100th Birthday and received a Papal Blessing Certificate from Pope John Paul II in 1995.
Paul Jones, Coaldale
