Lethbridge County Road Bans Begin Due to Warm Weather

Lethbridge County

As of 7 a.m. on Feb. 25th, Lethbridge County will implement road bans on all paved and gravel roads within the county.
“Spring road ban season has arrived early due to the unseasonably warm weather,” said Rick Bacon, the county’s new director of municipal services, in a recent media release.
“We are following the lead of Alberta Transportation on implementing the road bans.”
According to the media release, the majority of paved roads will be banned to 75 per cent of allowable axle weight and all gravel roads will be banned to 90 per cent.
An updated list of the 2015 road bans will be available soon on the Lethbridge County website at http://www.lethcounty.ca.
Any operators, the release stated, who are located on banned roads and are exporting products out of Canada may apply for exemption under an export permit at the Picture Butte County Shop. For more information call 403-732-5333.
Both the province and surrounding municipalities, the media release stated, have implemented road bans when the roads are most vulnerable in an attempt to maintain an acceptable and safe level of service for these types of roads and reduce the amount of damage.
