Nobleford’s Spring Fair is set for Mar. 28 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Nobleford Community Complex.
So far, Joyce Holinaty said, 18 of 25 vendor spots have been booked for the event. The cost for vendors is $25 for two tables. The event is free for visitors.
Holinaty is the secretary of the Community Complex Society.
“Our mission statement is to try and market that building, so it is less of a drain on the taxpayers. The more often we can fill it with events of some kind, the more profitable that building can become, and the easier it is on the tax burden,” said Holinaty, adding the last fair was held this past October.
A variety of vendors include photography, honey sales, clothing and accessories, bed and bath items, crafts, a chiropractor and food and drink.
“The Centennial Society has asked for a table because they want to get more publicity. They’re producing sort of a book of history from the previous 100 years,” she added.
Holinaty said the kitchen at the venue will also be open.
“Last year, the complex society did that. It’s not really a money maker but it does allow people to have coffee and a purchase and lunch sales went pretty good. I sold out of the chili that I had,” said Holinaty.
Because the community complex group is not a fundraising society, Holinaty noted, it is hoped the fair event can be held more than twice a year in the spring and the fall.
“I’m hoping to reach people inside and outside of the community. Kind of giving first preference to the people that live in the village but having said that, if we limit ourselves to that, we have the same people attending all the time and that’s not what we want. We want a wide variety and trying not to pick anybody so that they’re in competition. I wouldn’t take two Avon reps and for the most part it’s first come and first served but I’ve already said no to two people because they’re a doubling up of the exact same service. They will be first dibs in on the next go around. If I’ve got a lot of people then it would justify booking the facility and running it yet again,” said Holinaty.
