Construction on the playground in Monarch is slated to begin Monday, May 16 — starting with the deconstruction of the equipment currently on location.
According to the Lethbridge County website, the new equipment will be suited for children of all ages. It will include, “A variety of climbing equipment, activity panels, several slides, and swings. Picnic tables, benches, a bike rack, and garbage cans will also be added to enhance the facility.”
The basketball court will also be getting new hoops, while the line painting and seal coating of the tennis court will be done later.
Construction is slated to take around three weeks to complete and, “The public is asked to keep out of the fenced work area for their safety. Access to the tennis court and baseball diamond will be maintained throughout the build.”
According to the website, Lethbridge County thanks everyone for providing input into the playground equipment design. “We received valuable feedback from residents on what’s important for the new playground. After taking into consideration these ideas, the County now has a final design for the playground. From the original design, additional equipment has been added for younger children, giving the playground elements for children of all ages.”
The final design includes swing sets with a small seat for younger children, a variety of climbing equipment, several slides, overhead bars, expressions swing, merry-go-round, digger and spring riders and activity panels.
“Additional amenities to the playground include picnic tables, benches, a bike rack and garbage. The area will also see upgrades to the tennis and basketball courts with seal coating on the tennis court, new basketball hoops and nets, and painting keys on the basketball court.”
