Coaldale Cobra teams were back on the ice this past weekend as the Central Alberta Hockey League continues forward in the second half of the season.
U11 Tier 3
It was a weekend filled with tons of goals as the U11 Tier 3 Cobras had a pair of away games this past weekend against Okotoks. First up was a game on Saturday afternoon. The game was all Cobras as Coaldale rolled to a 13-1. Boston Constant could not be stopped as the Cobra scored four goals and added an assist while Ben Wojszel had a goal and an assist, and Marshall Coquet, Jake Waggener, and Cole Di-Loreto all had a single goal in the game. Mira Anderson was between the pipes and made 21 saves on 22 shots.
The Cobras looked to keep rolling on Sunday when they matched up with Okotoks again. It was all Coaldale again in Game 2 as the Cobras secured a 9-2 win. Constant continued his hot streak as he scored another four goals and added two assists, Waggener had a hat trick and an assist, Max Craven had a goal and an assist, Jackson Batkin had a single goal, and Wojszel and Di-Loreto had an assist each. Anderson was back in net and the goalie made 16 saves on 18 shots.
Okotoks comes to town this Saturday for an 11 a.m. game and then the weekend wraps up with the Cobras hitting the road to take on Indus at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday.
U11 Tier 5
The U11 Tier 5 Cobras had two games on the schedule. On Saturday, the team hit the road to take on Claresholm. No game sheet was available on Monday morning.
The weekend wrapped up with an away game against Pincher Creek on Sunday. Both teams were able to score plenty of goals, but it was the Cobras who took the win as they secured an 11-5 victory. Avery Gudmundson had a hat trick and an assist, Karli Ohlmann had a pair of goals and an assist, Drake Labelle and Dylan Yackulic had two goals each, Lucas Kenyon had a goal and an assist, Reid Lyckman had a goal, and Kendall Rae Clement chipped in with an assist. Lance Leusink was in between the pipes for Coaldale and collected the win.
The Cobras have a single game coming this weekend as they matchup against Picture Butte on Sunday for an 11 a.m. game.
U13
It was a two-game weekend for the U13 Cobras as they hit the road for both. On Saturday, the Cobras engaged in a back-and-forth battle with Cardston. Thanks to a late third period goal off of Caleb Burton’s stick, the Cobras were able to take home a 6-5 win. Burton and Rudy Wojszel each had two goals, Nova Mulder and William Thompson had a goal each, and Makenna Malm, Kashtyn Megyes, and Alistair Poettcker had an assist each. Brant L’Hirondelle made 37 saves on 42 shots in the Cobra net.
The final game of the weekend was a road game against Pincher Creek on Sunday. No game sheet was available on Monday morning.
The U13 Cobras return to the ice next weekend for a pair of games. On Saturday, the Cobras take to the road to face off against Fort Macleod at 11:15 a.m. The weekend needs with a game against Raymond in Coaldale at 1:15 p.m.
U15
The U15 Cobras had the weekend off from CAHL action and they return this coming weekend for a single game at home against Bow Island/Foremost at 1:15 p.m.
U18
The U18 Cobras were also off from CAHL action and they return this coming weekend for two games at home. First up is a game against Fort Macleod at 4:45 p.m. and then Taber comes to town on Sunday for a 4:45 p.m. game.
