Coaldale basketball player signs with Pronghorns

It was previously reported Bartsch was the recipient of the second team all-star award during the Southern Alberta Interscholastic Administrative Council (SAIAC) League awards night in 2022-2023. However, Bartsch received this award in 2022, and later received league MVP for the Deep South during the 2022-2023 SAISC League awards banquet.

The University of Lethbridge has signed Carson Bartsch of Coaldale to play for the university’s men’s basketball team this fall.

The accomplished player recently graduated from Kate Andrews high school   after a successful high school athletic career.

Bartsch received the 2022-2023 Career Athlete Award from Kate Andrews and MVP for senior basketball in his senior year. In 2022, Bartsch was a recipient of the second team all-star award during the Southern Alberta Interscholastic Administrative Council (SAIAC) League awards night. In 2023, Bartsch received League MVP award for the Deep South at the SAISC League banquet.

These awards are voted on by all coaches within the SAISC League comprising the Southern Alberta High School Football League, Southern Alberta High School Volleyball League, Southern Alberta High School Girls Basketball League, and the Souther Alberta High School 4A Boys basketball League.

On Aug. 15 The University of Lethbridge’s athletics announced, “Horns Men’s Basketball is thrilled to announce the signing of Carson Bartsch.” The six foot guard was welcomed to the Pronghorn Family by his new team, and received well-wishes from the Kate Andrews High School Pride on social meeting as well, “Kate Andrew is so proud of you Carson, congratulations.”

The KA Senior boys Basketball team was a top-seed of the 2022-2023 season. The Pronghorns men’s basketball season will kick off in Vancouver on Nov. 3 against the UBC Thunderbirds.
