Easter Tidings

Posted on April 16, 2019 by Sunny South News

Lydia and I moved from Taber to Coaldale about 36 years ago.

Father Redmond, parish priest at St. Ambrose RC Church then, asked what we like to do for church activities.

Our reply was “sing in the Choir” so he suggested that we join the Senior Choir, which we did.

Then he added that the President of the parish council will be retiring; he asked whether I want to take over as President.

I answered “yes”.

He also asked if I would like to join the Knights of Columbus wherein I said yes, I would, so long as they pray the Rosary. I joined because their life insurance was the best policy I’ve ever known.

I attended meetings faithfully and held different executive positions.

The best one was Church Activities Director, where I spent ten years organizing Stations of the Cross during Lent and held programs for travelling icons that came to our parish.

We used to travel to Coleman, Fort MacLeod, Lethbridge, and Taber for Travelling Knights and it was fun. They played shuffleboard and cards.

In the end my reward was as Honorary Knight 3rd degree that exempted me from paying membership dues.

Reconcile with Christ at Eastertime

Is the greeting of the day

that bring joy and peace of mind

to all people who do not go astray.

Show love towards your enemies

and pray for those who hate you

So that we can become true sons and

daughters of our Father in heaven.

And if some people show jealousy

and hold grudges,

this only proves that temper, crime

and war will follow.

So open wide the narrow gate

when you knock on the Lord’s door;

don’t wait to give forgiveness

to those that need it, all the more.
