Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit and Coaldale RCMP make arrest which resulted in trafficking charges

On Sept. 2, members of the Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit and Coaldale RCMP arrested a local resident for possession of a stolen licence plate.

Search incidental to arrest found the male to be in possession of what is believed to be several controlled substances. A significant amount of fentanyl (29 grams) was seized, as well as cocaine, LSD and mushrooms.

Paul McCarthy (40) of Coaldale has been charged with:

• possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking

• unlawfully possess cocaine

• unlawfully possess LSD

• unlawfully possess psilocybin (mushrooms)

• possession of a stolen licence plate

Following a judicial hearing McCarthy did not speak to bail and was scheduled to appear in Lethbridge provincial court Friday, Sept. 4.
