Fireworks in Picture Butte

Picture Butte Emergency Services would like to remind the public of the hazards and requirements of using fireworks in the Town of Picture Butte, according to a recent media release.

Under the Fire Protection Bylaw of the Town of Picture Butte, fireworks can be discharged in town limits by permit only. “To obtain a fireworks permit, an applicant must provide proof of qualification to use fireworks and liability insurance. A fireworks permit is also conditional upon notification of adjacent landowners, time of day and weather conditions,” it was stated.

It was pointed out in the media release, fireworks cannot be discharged in the Town of Picture Butte without a valid permit and doing so will result in a minimum fine of $250, as well as possible offences under the Explosives Act.

“Anyone concerned about the discharge of fireworks in the Town of Picture Butte is asked to report the occurrence to the Fire Department or Bylaw Services,” it was noted.
