After winning both of their games last weekend, the Coaldale Copperheads were back in action this previous weekend where they saw three games on tap, and they continued to put up wins.
On Remembrance Day, the Copperheads welcomed in the Medicine Hat Cubs where they skated to a close 4-3 win in Heritage Junior B action.
The first frame saw no scoring from either club, before breaking wide open in the second. The Copperheads saw a goal from Brogan Booth with assists from Thomas Johnson and Koden Lazar. The Cubs meanwhile put two on the board and took a 2-1 lead into the third period. Despite trailing, the Copperheads battled back to win the game. Krishan Stocker, Johnson, and Dallas Bodnar scored to put the Snakes ahead. Booth (two), Lazar, Stocker and Tristan Miller collected assists. Ethan Barrows stopped 17 of 20 shots in the net.
The Copperheads went 0-1 on the powerplay and 1-1 on the penalty kill in the game.
The following night, the Copperheads hit the road to face off against the Lomond Lakers. While the first game resulted in a close affair, the second saw the Copperhead offence exploded for a 10-1 win.
Brandon Creighton, Braiden Burke and Stocker put pucks in the net in the first period. The Copperheads continued to pour it on in the second as Sean Burns, Tristan Miller, Bodnar, Derrien Tonin, and Burke scored to make it 8-1 heading into the final frame. In the third, Miller and Dylan Nevil sealed the 10-1 win.
Creighton and Bodnar also collected a pair of assists. Kaden Booth had three assists, Jason Creighton had a pair, while Matteo Caputo, Burns, Burke, Tonin and Miller had singles.
Brendan Stewart stopped 25 of 26 shots fired his way in the blue paint.
The Snakes went 1-5 on the power play and killed off all five penalties against.
Looking to continue their win streak, on Saturday night, the Snakes came home for a matchup against the Strathmore Wheatland Kings. Like the first game of the weekend, the Copperheads offence continued to chug along.
The team grabbed a one nothing lead in the first thanks to an unassisted Dylan Nevil marker.
In the second, the Copperheads put three more on the board thanks to two Brandon Creighton goals and a single from Bodnar.
Heading into the third, Coaldale was up 4-0 and despite giving up a pair of goals, the Snakes would add one of their own off of Kale Amundrud’s stick and they collected a 5-2 win.
Brandon Creighton, Ryden Rempel, and Tyran Kiss had an assist each in the win. Logan Leroux stopped 18 of 20 shots.
The Snakes went 0-3 on the powerplay, but they also killed off all six penalties.
Coaldale will head into next weekend on a five-game winning streak which has seen them jump up to second place in a tie with Medicine Hat in the Southern Division.
The Snakes have a record of 10-6-1, good for 21 points.
The next games for the Copperheads are Nov. 19 against Kainai at Henderson Ice Centre and Nov. 20 against High River in Coaldale. Puck drop is at 8:30 p.m.
