Cobras back in action over weekend

January Central Alberta League Action has now wrapped up and all Coaldale teams saw games on their schedule this past weekend.

U11 Tier 3

The U11 Tier 3 squad had a pair of games this past weekend.

On Saturday, the team faced off against Taber and were able to secure an 11-6 victory.

Travis Jackson had a hat trick and an assist, Nova Mulder had a pair of goals and an assist, River Pollard had two goals, Rudy Wojszel, Brayden Zasadny, Nixon Noble, and Kaelan Hoffman all had a single goal, while Dominic Di-Loreto collected an assist. Elliot Hass faced 27 shots in the Coaldale net and made 21 stops.

The team rounded out January with a home game on Sunday against Redcliff, but no game sheet was available Monday morning.

The Tier 3 Cobras next action comes on Feb. 12 against Bow Island/Foremost and Feb. 13 against Picture Butte.

U11 Tier 6

In two games over the weekend, the U11 Tier 6 Cobras were in tough as they battled in two home games against Taber.

Saturday saw Taber come to town and the road team was able to edge out the Cobras with a 10-5 win. Ryan Scriven-Hirsche and Jackson Batkin had two goals each, while Paxton Wiebe had a goal and Roman Howg had an assist. Peyton Rowley got the start in net for the Cobras.

On Sunday, the Oil Kings were back in Coaldale and they skated to a 9-4 win over the Cobras. Scriven-Hirsche, Emmet Conrad, and Foster Hurt had the Cobras goals while Emerson Conrad drew an assist. Mira Anderson was between the pipes for Coaldale.

With the calendar flipping to February, the Cobras’ next game comes on Feb. 5 on the road against Chestermere.

U13

The U13 Cobras had a single game on tap this past weekend at home against Claresholm. No game sheet was available Monday morning.

The U13s have another game coming this weekend when they head to Pincher Creek on Friday night.

U15

With a pair of close games over the weekend, the U15 Cobras saw themselves locked into battles against Pincher Creek and Picture Butte.

The team welcomed in Pincher Creek on Saturday and despite a back and forth battle, the Cobras would fall 6-5. Grady Knoblich had two goals and two assists, while Ryder Bousfield had two assists, Layne Kyle, Carsen Roy, and Kaede Wakefield had one goal each, and Mason Van Ee had an assist. Logan Van Der Leest was between the pipes for Coaldale and made 18 saves on 24 shots.

The Cobras would bounce back on Sunday when they visited Picture Butte with a 5-4 win. Jonah Hass and Bousfield had two goals each while Hudson Adams had a goal and an assist, Dalton Damen and Kenneth Galbraith had an assist each. Dakota Hurst got the start for Coaldale and made 22 saves on 26 shots.

The U13 Cobras don’t return to the ice until Feb. 13 when they welcome in Claresholm for a 4:45 p.m. puck drop.

U18

The weekend saw a pair of games for the U18 Cobras.

Saturday saw the team welcome in Chestermere while Sunday saw Rockyford come to Coaldale. Neither had game sheets available Monday morning.

The next action for the U18 Cobras comes on Feb. 11 against Pincher Creek and Feb. 12 against Nanton.
