Busy start to December for Blades

December has begun and Christmas is in the air, but Picture Butte Blade teams were looking to rack up some wins in Central Alberta Hockey League play.

U11

Both offence and defence combined for a pair of great games for the U11 Blades this past weekend as they hosted Nanton and Pincher Creek. Saturday saw Nanton come to town and the Blades were able secure a 3-0 win. Arie Groenenboom had a pair of goals, Brady Wasylowich had a single, and Brock Van Raay had an assist. Jace Realini was perfect in net with a 14-save shutout.

On Sunday, Pincher Creek was in Butte and the Blades scored tons of goals across the three periods as they took the game 13-0. Groenenboom was on fire with six goals and three assists, Brance Van Nistelrooy had two goals and two assists, Waylowich had a hat trick, Van Raay and Oleksii Kucherenko had two assists, Hunter French and Jersey Johnson had a goal, and Casey Burke and Leonor Peralta chipped in with an assist each. Realini collected another shutout in the Blades’ net.

A single game comes this weekend for the U11 Blades as they hit the road to take on Nanton on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

U13

The U13 Blades kicked off the new month with a single game at home against Pincher Creek. On Saturday, the visiting team was able to secure a 7-4 win. Liam Campmans had two of the Blade goals while Kade Spencer and Quinn Byers had the others. Cale Campbell was between the pipes and the netminder made 37 saves on 44 shots.

Next weekend sees one game for the U13 Blades as they hit the road to take on Cardston for a 3:15 p.m. puck drop on Saturday.

U15

The U15 Blades had the weekend off of CAHL action and they return to the ice this Saturday. The team heads to Magrath on Dec. 10 for a 4 p.m. game.
