A new grant program has officially launched in Coalhurst.
Applications are now being accepted by the Town of Coalhurst for its Community Grant Program.
“This new grant program has been developed to foster local leadership and benefit the community as a whole,” said Coalhurst Mayor Lyndsay Montina in a press release. “We’re very excited to see how residents embrace the opportunity to apply and make some great things happen right here at home!”
The program provides two funding streams for projects in the community. The first way is through Neighbourhood Connections Micro-grants, for which applicants can access up to $500 to use for a wide range of neighbourhood projects, gatherings, or activities that promote social connections, inclusion and well-being in the community, such as building a little free library, hosting an outdoor movie night and neighbourhood beautification projects.
The other stream applicant can access funds is through Community Support Grants, where up to $2,000 can be used for one-time projects or initiatives, community events, social programs or events and economic development initiatives designed to enhance Coalhurst residents’ sense of connection, quality of life and/or grow and improve Coalhurst’s economic well-being.
While applications are being accepted at any time, applications are asked to submit their funding requests at least 60 days prior to their event or program starting, to allow time for council to review and respond to their request.
“Council is thrilled to see this new program ready to go and available for local residents, non-profit groups, and even businesses to receive financial assistance for projects and programs that are intended to improve quality of life in Coalhurst and bring our community members together,” said. “Council’s Strategic Plan includes clearly defined goals to develop deep social and cultural connections among residents and improve the economic well-being of our community. We believe this grant program can help – in part – to achieve those goals.”
Applicants can find the grant application form, grant program policy and post-event report template on the town’s website, http://www.coalhurst.ca.
