RCMP charge six with drug offences after weekend bust

Six individuals have been charged with drug offences following an RCMP investigation in Coaldale and Picture Butte.

On February 19, Coaldale/Picture Butte RCMP entered into a stolen property investigation. As part of the investigation, officers executed a search warrant at a Coaldale residence on March 9 and recovered property believed to be part of the investigation.

Police arrested six people on the property, and say they seized the following controlled substances:

• Approx. 74 grams of suspected methamphetamine

• Approx. 70 grams of suspected fentanyl

• Approx. 22 grams of suspected heroin

• Approx. 6 grams of psilocybin

• Michael Berg, 37, and Frederick Stephen Lavell, 52, both residents of Coaldale, were charged with:

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2)

• Possession of a controlled substance (x2)

• Berg was released on conditions and Lavell was remanded into custody for Alberta Court of Justice in Lethbridge on March 21.

• Scott Eugene Conine, 42, also of Coaldale, is facing the following charges:

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2)

• Possession of a controlled substance (x2)

• Breach of release order (x6)

Conine will also appear in Lethbridge court on March 21.

• Three others were charged with the following:

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2)

• Possession of a controlled substance (x2)

They were released on an undertaking for Alberta Court of Justice in Lethbridge on April 29.
