Picture Butte High School has a new dramatic production opening next week, and the school is hoping the public will provide a strong show of support.

“The play we are doing this year is called Goldilocks on Trial,” said drama teacher Mark Ogle. “The classic fairytale, except Goldilocks is on trial for breaking into the Three Bears’ house. It’s a funny, campy, and silly play that allows for kids to have a lot of fun with it while also learning how to develop a character and enjoy Fine Arts. I have kids from all our grades (7-12) in the show.”

Ogle highlighted the ticketing format for the show, which allows patrons to pay as little or as much as they would like.

“The show is performed at Picture Butte High School on May 14-16, 7 p.m. each night. Tickets are available at the door and they are Pay What You Can! All proceeds go back into the Fine Arts program at the high school. If you want to give us $3500 you could! Or you could give us nothing. Either way it’s totally fine!”

The production has grown organically out of the effort put in by students in Ogle’s class.

“We have been able to run this show as a drama class. We started at the beginning of the second semester (February 1st) and have met 3-4 times a week to run rehearsals. It’s been such a wonderful time with these 20 individuals.”

Ogle couldn’t say enough about the dedication of students and staff at Picture Butte High School that have helped make the production a success.

“I want to give a shout-out to the students. Getting up in front of your friends and family can be incredibly scary but these students are doing an amazing job. It really makes being their teacher worth it to see the courage and bravery come out, as well as seeing them grown as kids. Additionally, the entire staff at the school has volunteered for various things such as helping to put together sets, make the poster or program, run the front door, control sound, et cetera. We have a special school here and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

Ogle encouraged everyone to try to make it out and take in the play May 14-16.

“Please come on out and watch the show! It’s suitable for all ages! Hope to see you here!”
