Coaldale Copperheads are finding themselves all over the map this season — 9-7.
Two weekends ago the team won three straight games and this past weekend the team lost two on road. The team is hoping to find some consistency soon, as the Copperheads sit at 16 games into the season. The Snakes are currently sitting second in the south division.
Don’t miss double-header home action at the Snake Pit this Saturday at 8:30 p.m. against Banff and Sunday at 4 p.m. against Blackfalds.
On Nov. 7, the Picture Butte Blades Initiation 1 team hosted the Vulcan Hawks. The Blades came out with a 9-2 win.
Devin Groenenboom led the scoring with three goals. Brody Trotter and Justin Campmans each got a pair. And Jayden Quinn and Emma Groenenboom both put one between the pipes. Emma and Justin both scoring their first ever minor hockey goal.
The team saw some great goal-tending by Ryder Johnson, Pearce Medve, and Luke Serfas.
The team is back on home ice against Taber on Saturday.
Picture Butte Jim Juris Knights of Columbus Initiation 2 hit the ice against Raymond 2 this past Saturday.
It was an actio-filled big win for the Blades seeing Jesse Klingenberg scoring his first career goal.
Bridget Gellrich added one for the team and Walker Schooten scored two. The game had three big goals each for Gracen Schooten, Colton VanRootselaar, Liam Slomp and Max Okubo.
The Picture Butte Novice Blades have been busy over the past two weekends.
The Blades finished up their seeding games over the weekend with a hard fought win over the Pincher Creek Chinooks. The Blades squeaked out a 10-9 win with goals by Carson Konynenbelt (four goals), Braxton Hanna (four goals) and Leeland Fraser (two goals).
The Novice Blades are hoping to be comfortably seeded in the “A” pool of the Spud League.
Sunday morning, the Blades travelled to Taber for an exhibition game. The Blades fought hard but just couldn’t quite hold on for a win. The team fell 11-8 to the Taber Oil Kings.
Braxton Hanna scored four goals, Carson Konynenbelt scored two goals, and Leeland Fraser and Luka Rudelich each scored one goal.
The Picture Butte Blades only had one game this past weekend.
It was an exhibition game against the Lethbridge Broncos.
Butte Goalie, Adam Peterson, played a great game only letting in one puck.
It was a team effort with many players adding goals or assists to the score.
Caden Heins led the team with a 10-point game. Logan Hillaby had a seven-point game. Kayson Mohamed and Riley McCloud added their skill to the game by contributing four more points each. Other players getting points were Ryan Holm, Nick Rudelich, Tyler Maslen — all earning three points. Hunter VanNaerenbergh and Rylan Sincennes both had a two-point game. Ethan Slomp contributed, as well, and got one point.
