Kate Andrews High School in Coaldale sent the Senior Girls volleyball team to the 2A Provincials in Vauxhall recently. There were 12 teams in the tournament, with six in each pool.
“It was a really good experience. We were able to play some very good competition and we were able to team bond,” said Grade 12 student and Team Captain Brittia Tonin.
Tonin noted the team started off the tournament playing very strong teams but wasn’t quite able to fully compete to the team’s full abilities.
“But, near the end of the tournament we were able to play some of our best volleyball games we’ve played,” she added.
Overall, Tonin said, it was great to play and hang out with her fellow team members and to watch and learn, as other teams competed.
“And, also to learn from our coaches from being in that experience,” Tonin said. The provincials tournament also wrapped up the volleyball season for the senior girls at KAHS.
Tonin said she has been playing volleyball since Grade 6. “It’s a really fun way to express yourself and it’s just something I love to do. I just play to have fun,” said Tonin.
