Copperheads continue South Division final run

Posted on March 8, 2016 by Sunny South News

The Coaldale Copperheads South Division final series didn’t start out the way the team planned. Currently sitting with two losses in a row to start the series off from road trips in Cochrane. It appeared the team was not focused or prepared to face the overall first-place HJHL team.
Saturday night, on home ice, the team came out to play a full 60 minutes. Limiting themselves to penalties, pressing hard every shift and strong net-minding earned the 4-1 victory of Game Three.Overage leaders Connor Gross with two goals and Craig Lyon with two goals were a huge impact.
Goaltender Dillan Kelly, with one of his strongest games of the season, contributed to the team’s success. Sitting in a position down 2-1 in the South Division final, the team needs to keep this momentum.
Next home game is a super important one, on home ice, tomorrow at 8:30 p.m. Then it’s Friday night with an away game to Cochrane at 7:30 p.m. for Game Five.
Saturday home and Sunday away will be the final Game 6/7, if need be.
The Shimek Service Initiation 1 Blades team played Friday night and Saturday morning this past weekend. Friday, the Blades took on the Lethbridge Crushers coming out on top winning 10-9. Scoring for the Blades were Ryan Serfas, Tate Serfas, Luke Serfas, Brody Trotter and Devon Groenenboom. Saturday morning the team travelled to Raymond, where the team fell short 13-12. Scoring for the Blades were Devon Grienenboom, Ryan Serfas, Tate Serfas, Luke Serfas, Brody Trotter and Jayden Quinn.
