Copperheads experience first loss of the season

Coaldale Copperheads

Coaldale Copperheads hosted the Okotoks Bisons this past Saturday night at the Snake Pit.

The home team Snakes after the first period led the Bisons 2-0 from goals from Ty Abbott and Brandyn Howg. Second period was totally the opposite as the Bisons scored two to even the game up.

Come the third period it was a back and forth with goals from the two squads. After sixty minutes Okotoks finished taking the league two points with a final score of 5-4. Copperheads third period goals came from Jason Creighton and Abbott with his second of the night.

Final shots of the game had Okotoks with 45 and the Copperheads with 34. Broc Merkl was between the pipes for the full game.

Added addition Isaac Benoit recently acquired from the Strathmore Wheatland Kings was in the line up for the Copperheads earning one assist on his opening night.

Copperheads Sunday’s game originally scheduled to be played in Strathmore was postponed due to the extreme winter weather conditions.

The make up game will be announced once finalized.

Next home game action will be this coming Saturday, Oct. 5 at 8:30 p.m. against Airdrie Thunder, last years league champions.
